Louisiana Senior Advisors

Experience & Background

Tonya Aiken is the owner and founder of Louisiana Senior Advisors, an independent Medicare consulting agency at 174 S 6 Street in Ponchatoula, with additional satellite offices serving the New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas.

With more than 20 years of experience in Medicare health plans and 30 plus years in the insurance industry, Tonya has dedicated her career to educating, advocating for, and protecting seniors as they navigate their healthcare choices. She began her Medicare career as a career agent with Humana Market Point, serving Livingston, St Helena, and Tangipahoa Parishes. That experience provided her with deep carrier-level insight, which she now pairs with the objectivity of an independent broker.

Professional Roles and Leadership

As an independent agency, Louisiana Senior Advisors works for the client - not the insurance company. The agency represents multiple nationally recognized carriers, including Humana, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Peoples Health, UnitedHealthcare, Devoted Health, Allstate, Cigna and others. This allows clients to compare options and choose coverage that best fits their individual needs, doctors and prescriptions.

Tonya has served in numerous leadership roles within the health insurance industry. She completed a two-year term as President of the Baton Rouge Association of Health Underwriters and previously served as Professional Development Chair for the Louisiana Association of Health Underwriters. She currently serves on the Legislative Committee, addressing state-level issues that impact seniors and the health insurance industry.

Her commitment to seniors extends beyond insurance. Tonya also serves as a Board Member for the Capital Area Agency on Aging, an extension of the Governor’s Office of Elderly Affairs, which supports and funds Council on Aging centers through the Florida Parishes.

A dedicated community advocate, she has volunteered with organizations including Our Daily Bread and The Pastor’s Army - A hurricane relief organization her family founded in 2017 following Hurricane Harvey.

Personal Life and Mission

Originally from the Baton Rouge area, Tonya attended Southeastern Louisiana University. She and her husband of 39 years have two children who are also Southeastern alumni. Having lived in Chicago, Flint, Los Angeles, and Rockville, she values diverse experiences but proudly calls Ponchatoula home. In her free time, she enjoys playing piano, traveling with her husband and close friends, and investing in the close-knit community she loves.

Tonya’s mission is simple: to educate, advocate, and simplify Medicare so seniors can make confident healthcare decisions and to be a local resource that seniors can depend on to navigate the complex world of insurance.
